Winners for the 93rd Academy Awards are being unveiled live from the Union Station in Los Angeles, California, on April 25.
“Nomadland” was the big winner of the night, taking home the prize for Best Picture, though it was presented third from the end.
Producers bucked with tradition and saved the lead acting categories for the very end. Frances McDormand was named Best Actress for “Nomadland” and Anthony Hopkins won for “The Father,” the final award of the night.
Daniel Kaluuya won for Supporting Actor for “Judas and the Black Messiah” and Yuh-Jung Youn took home Supporting Actress for “Minari,” becoming the first Korean actor to do so. Nine actors of color earned Academy Award nominations. Additionally, more women were nominated in 2021 than in any previous year.
And the Oscar goes to…
The 93rd Academy Awards, for outstanding film achievements of 2020, will be presented on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries worldwide.
Chloé Zhao also made history on Oscar Sunday, becoming the second woman and the first woman of color to win an Oscar for Directing for “Nomadland.”
