Tonight is the night. The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards. And we already know some of the winners.
A fairly lackluster show, one of the runaway successes was Showtime’s “Homeland,” which won the network’s first Outstanding Drama Series Emmy. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis won the lead acting categories for the drama as well.
A week before telecast airs on ABC, the television academy announced some of the winners at its Creative Arts Emmys, which recognizes technical achievements, along with giving out some acting prizes.
HBO’s “Game of Thrones” was a big winner on Sept. 15, winning six trophies. For guest acting spots, Kathy Bates won for “Two and a Half Men,” Jimmy Fallon as host of “Saturday Night Live,” Jeremy Davies for “Justified” and Martha Plimpton for “The Good Wife.”
Among the networks, HBO leads the pack with 17 Emmys thus far, followed by CBS with 13 and PBS with 11.
Twenty-six more Emmys (see categories and nominees below) were handed out at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, which aired live coast-to-coast on ABC. Don Mischer Productions produced. The production company is also producing the Oscars’ Governors Awards.
Emmy for the Oscars
Of the eight nominations it received, the 84th Academy Awards ceremony has won one Emmy thus far — for Outstanding Sounds Mixing for a Variety Series or Special. The 65th Tony Awards beat out the Oscars for Outstanding Special Class Programs.
